About Dönnhoff Tonschiefer Riesling Trocken
Dönnhoff Tonschiefer Riesling Trocken is a dry white wine made with the Riesling variety, produced by the Dönnhoff winery, in the Nahe Valley, Germany.
Tonschiefer is translated as clay slate and it is precisely this kind of soil that defines the character of the Dönnhoff Tonschiefer Riesling Trocken, whose grapes grow in vineyards between 25 and 30 years old on the slopes of Leistenberg. These dry, blackish grey slate soils are perfect for making exquisitely elegant wines.
To make this Dönnhoff Tonschiefer Riesling Trocken the harvest is carried out manually and is 100% selective. The must is fermented and matured in stainless steel tanks and in the region’s traditional large oak barrels.
Dönnhoff is a winery dating back to 1761. Helmut Dönnhoff, the founder’s grandson, was the one who established quality standards and a style that brought the winery international success. Today Dönnhoff has an excellent worldwide reputation, especially thanks to the Riesling wines they make.
