About Domiziano Nuccio Primitivo di Manduria
Geographical shapes can be strikingly evocative. Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula resembles a hand or a crab's claw, while the North and South Islands of New Zealand are sometimes likened to the country's national bird, the kiwi. Yet perhaps one of the most iconic examples is the Italian peninsula, whose distinctive shape conjures the image of a boot. Nestled within this well-defined silhouette, the "heel" is Apulia (Puglia), a region famed for its dazzling coastline, rich historical tapestry, and exquisite Mediterranean cuisine. It is here that Vincenzo, a young and dynamic winemaker, revives the vineyards planted by his grandfather Giuseppe in the municipality of Mesagne, in Salento (Italy), to craft authentic wines without chemical agents, yet employing sophisticated refinement techniques.
He thus introduces us to Domiziano Nuccio Primitivo di Manduria, a red wine produced from the indigenous primitivo grape variety. Old vines planted in clay-loam soils are organically cultivated using eco-friendly treatments. The harvest is carried out manually in boxes and immediately transported to the wine press. There, they are meticulously selected and gently crushed to initiate the fermentation process in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures with maceration of the skins for an approximate period of 10 days. Eventually, the wine matures on fine lees for 7 months before the wine is definitively bottled.
From this land globally recognized as the boot's heel comes Domiziano Nuccio Primitivo di Manduria, a wine that stands as a testament to Vincenzo's love for his land and family heritage, ready to enchant the palates of those who value the authentic and the genuine.
