About Domaine Saint-Cyr Alien

As times progress, increasingly, newer generations instigate significant shifts at all levels of our existence. This generational change is also evident in the viticultural sector, where numerous wineries, upon transitioning from parents to children, witness a fresh direction in project management. In the case of Domaine Saint-Cyr, a winery situated in Anse at the southernmost tip of Beaujolais, the acquisition by the 4th generation, namely Raphael Saint-Cyr, led to the entire 23-hectare estate being converted into certified organic viticulture. Observing that the chemical products used to treat his vines had been culpable for his grandfather's and uncle's illnesses, Raphael did not hesitate for a moment and promptly set to work. A true innovator in the region, his contributions have established Domaine Saint-Cyr as one of the most expansive organic domains within Beaujolais.

Crafted from the Aligoté grape variety, we are introduced to Domaine Saint-Cyr Alien, a white wine originating from vines planted on clay-limestone soils. The estate is managed with the utmost respect for the soil, plants, and wildlife, which is why all vines are organically cultivated and have adhered to biodynamic practices since 2008. In the winery, the grapes undergo direct pressing without settling, and the resulting juice ferments spontaneously with indigenous yeasts. Subsequently, the wine matures in 100% old barrels on lees for 24 months. Finally, it is bottled without the addition of sulfites and unfiltered.

As a result of this commitment to organic philosophy, Raphael introduces us to Domaine Saint-Cyr Alien, a white wine that is fresh, vibrant, and mineral-rich, encapsulating both the tradition of Beaujolais and the innovation of the new generations.
