About Devaux Cuvée D
There are hundreds of wineries in the AOC Champagne producing wines in their own personal style. However, there are some outstanding ones that perfectly define the character of this wine region known around the world for its traditional method sparkling wines. This is the case of Devaux. Founded in the middle of the 19th century by brothers Jules and Auguste Devaux, this maison in the heart of the Côte des Bar, is part of the history of the denomination. One of their premium champagnes, Devaux Cuvée D is one of the maison’s flagship products.
Made from Pinot Noir from the Côte des Bar and Chardonnay from the Côtes des Blancs, Montgueux and Côtes des Bar, Devaux Cuvée D is a brut champagne that ferments in stainless steel tanks, with a small amount fermented in barrels. Afterwards, it undergoes a partial malolactic fermentation and an assemblage with 35% reserve wines. It then remains in the bottle for a minimum of 5 years. After disgorging, 8 grams of sugar per litre are added and it spends at least 6 months in the bottle rack before being released for sale.
Rated with one star in the prestigious French Hachette guide, the Devaux house itself describes their Devaux Cuvée D as a brut champagne that has achieved the ultimate expression of a premium sparkling wine.
