About Cuatro Pasos
Cuatro Pasos is a red wine from Bierzo produced by the Martin Codax winery.
The winery, located in the Valle del Salnés (Pontevedra), is characterized by its connection and affirmation of Galician culture, it is no coincidence that takes the name of a famous Galician troubadour.
Cuatro Pasos are 100% made from Mencia. The grapes come from vineyards with an average age of 80 years from 4 properties located in 4 different towns: Otero, Hornija, Corullón and Valtuille. The vineyards are planted on slate soils in the high areas of the Bierzo.
For its preparation, a first fermentation of the must in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures occurs. After this process, the wine ages for 2 months in barrels of French and American oak.
Cuatro Pasos gets its name from the spectacular bear tracks that were once found in one of the fields where Mencia vineyards are cultivated.
