Tasting notes Conti Costanti Brunello di Montalcino 2017
Red wine Aged in wood. 18 meses en tonel, 18 barricas de roble de Eslavonia and 12 meses en botella.
Conti Costanti Brunello di Montalcino 2017 is a concentrated red wine with aromas of ripe red fruit, accompanied by forest fruits and sweet spicy and liquorice notes. About Conti Costanti Brunello di Montalcino
When in 1983 Andrea Costanti, a recent graduate in geology from the University of Siena with no experience in wine, took over Colle a Matrichese no one could have imagined his great ability to handle his new and enormous responsibilities in one of Montalcino’s most distinguished wineries. Thanks to his work, he has not only demonstrated respect for the Brunello tradition started by his ancestor Tito Costanti, but has also brought far-reaching innovations to achieve long-lasting and complex wines that are not easy to produce.
While his Conti Costanti Brunello di Montalcino is steeped in tradition, it is certainly a welcome breath of fresh air as a result of zoning. Although it is the oldest in Costanti’s history, it is not the longest aged. This red wine comes from Sangiovese vineyards lying at 433-471 metres above sea level, on a very special galestro soil with large temperature contrasts between day and night. In the winery, the selected and destemmed grapes are macerated for 2 weeks in contact with the skins in stainless steel. The wine is then aged for 18 months in casks, 18 months in Slavonian oak barrels and 12 months in the bottle.
This means Conti Costanti Brunello di Montalcino is a combination of tradition, unique vineyards and the sensitivity of the winemaker. An authentic, rich and long-lasting Brunello that opens the door to a new generation of the DOCG Brunello di Montalcino.
