From its founding in 1849 by Adolphe Cointreau in Angers, France, to the creation of the definitive recipe in 1885 by Édouard Cointreau, this liqueur has transcended generations thanks to its unmistakable aromatic balance and its artisanal distillation process, meticulously preserved for over 170 years.
 
The heart of Cointreau lies in its complex blend of orange peels selected from the finest crops around the globe, combining the best of sweet and bitter to offer a unique sensory experience. The recipe for this liqueur is a milestone in distillation: completely clear, three times more concentrated in flavour, and with a surprisingly low sugar content, maintaining its freshness and authenticity unchanged since its creation.
