About Clos Fontà

Clos Fontà is a D.O.Q. Priorat red wine, produced by Mas d'en Gil.

This wine is a coupage of Garnacha Tinta and Cariñena from old vines produced in different slopes where olive trees, almond trees and typically Mediterranean vegetation is planted (only one third of the land is dedicated to vine production).
The grape varieties are farmed separately according to the variety and the plot of land from which the grapes originate. They are then joined to make a coupage.
This wine ages for 14 months in mostly French oak barrels, with a small portion in American oak barrels. It rests a minimum of six more months in the bottle.

We recommend decanting this wine about two hours before enjoying.
2016

Clos Fontà 2016 is a concentrated red wine. The nose is very elegant, with aromas of fruit, wood and toast. On the palate, it is pleasant and fresh. Rich and flavoursome. Mineral touch with flavoursome tannins. Persistent finish.
2009 On the palate this wine is robust, powerful and in turn silky and elegant. It is velvety and fleshy on the palate and very tasty. Ripe fruit, delicate toasted notes and minerals intermix forming a balanced set. Good, fresh acidity and intense, ripe tannins. Very long and persistent. An excellent red wine, with a high concentration of flavours and aromas. Powerful and broad.

Intense picota cherry colour with violet tones. Clean and very bright. Pretty and fine tears on the glass.

The deep mineral tones from the slate appear at first and then slowly mix with a high concentration of dark fruit, some very ripe red fruit, spices (cinnamon, coffee, cocoa and tobacco) and refreshing balsamic notes.
2008 Powerful, flavourful, meaty and very smart. Tannins still present but of great quality. Good acidity. Menthol, liquorice, some fruit, minerals. Long finish.

Cherry red with a ruby rim. Clean and bright.

A complex nose with a prominence of wild fruit. Blackberries, blueberries, raspberries and spices. Cinnamon, pepper. Dairy memories, with balsamic, dried flowers, coffee and snuff together with a mineral background provided by the licorella.
2007 Powerful and elegant wine. Bulky and very velvety, tasty and meaty mid palate, in which the notes of ripe fruit are mixed with the delicate toasted and mineral aromas forming a balanced and harmonious mouth. Its ripe tannins are still present. It shows a good acidity and freshness. Very long and persistent finish. Great wine with a great concentration of flavours and aromas and a powerful, great palate.

Intense red colour with violet reflections. Clean and bright wine.

Complex Priorat wine in which the deep minerality provided by the licorella appears on first nosing and is slowly mixed with the heavy load of very ripe black fruit and some red fruit, the spicy notes (cinnamon, coffee, cocoa, tobacco) and its refreshing balsamic aromas.
2006 In mouthfeel is broad, velvety tannins and bulky, with a long run, elegant and fresh.

Dark cherry color, well covered with purple welts.

Intense aromatic expression, which include a multitude of red and black fruit accompanied by notes of minerals and soothing.
2005 In the mouth the wine is broad, velvety tannin and very bulky, with a long route, elegant and fresh.
