Franciacorta Clarabella Brut is a sparkling wine that captivates with its vibrant and sophisticated personality. It showcases a striking lemon yellow colour with golden highlights that catch the light. On the nose, it offers a delicate aroma where notes of baked apple blend with brioche and a sweet hint of milk chocolate; all enhanced by the citrus touch of candied lemon peel. On the palate, its mousse is dense and effervescent, full of life with a freshness that electrifies the senses. About Clarabella Franciacorta Brut

In June 1972, the patients of the Trieste asylum wrote to the President of the province to save Marco, an ageing horse destined for slaughter. The request, written as if by the horse himself, asked for Marco to remain at the centre after his retirement. The petition was accepted, and Marco stayed at the asylum under the care of the patients. This act was seen as a recognition of the dignity of the inmates. Inspired, they built a large sculpture of a blue horse, to be paraded and displayed around the town. However, when they attempted to take it out of the centre, they realised it couldn't fit through the door, so they launched the horse and broke through the hospital walls. This is how Marco Cavallo became a symbol of freedom and humanisation in psychiatry. A symbol that has also been embraced by Clarabella, the social agricultural cooperative focused on employment integration in Franciacorta, in Lombardy, Italy. With various productive activities, it has been a winery since 2002, and its vineyards have posts painted blue, like Marco Cavallo. In addition to creating job opportunities for people with physical and mental disabilities, Clarabella is part of the Consortium for the protection of Franciacorta, a unique expression defining a territory, a production method, and a wine.

From their vineyards stretching between Lake Iseo and Franciacorta, they produce Clarabella Franciacorta Brut, a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes, which are organically farmed to minimise human impact on the environment, preserve biodiversity, and reduce water usage. In the winery, the selected and destemmed grapes are gently pressed and cold-settled for 36 hours. The resulting must ferments using selected yeasts (15% in barrels). Afterwards, a second fermentation takes place in the bottle according to the traditional method, where it ages on the lees for 20-28 months. Finally, disgorgement is carried out and the appropriate dosage is added.

Considering that the mythical event of Marco Cavallo was the tip of the iceberg of a comprehensive programme of humanisation for patients, Clarabella is an extension of this movement. A project that not only emphasises social dignity but also the wine region of Franciacorta. Clarabella Franciacorta Brut is proof of this.
