About Château Pesquié Quintessence Rouge
Whereas for the ancient Greek philosopher Empedocles the universe was comprised of the four essential elements: fire, water, air, and earth, Aristotle posited the existence of an additional one, the quintessence. An invisible substance permeating the cosmos, epitomizing the purest, most refined, and exquisite nature of a thing. Inspired by this concept, Château Pesquié, one of the finest family-run wineries that has exquisitely represented the AOC Ventoux (located in the southern Rhône), has named one of its premier wines Château Pesquié Quintessence Rouge.
Crafted exclusively in the most exceptional vintages, Château Pesquié Quintessence Rouge is sourced from vineyards over 50 years old, comprising Syrah and Grenache varieties planted on terraces at altitudes of 250-350 meters above sea level. To safeguard the terroir's integrity, organic farming practices are employed alongside biodynamic treatments, and yields are restricted to 20hl/ha. The grapes are handpicked, and the vinification process in the winery is distinguished by a 3-4 week maceration period, followed by aging for 15 months in oak barrels, 40% of which are new and the remaining 60% are second and third-year barrels.
The result is Château Pesquié Quintessence Rouge, a complex, silky, and robust red wine that has become one of the benchmark wines of the AOC Ventoux. It is the quintessence of the winery.
