About Château La Fleur-Petrus
Château La Fleur-Pétrus is a red coupage of Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc classified as an AOC Pomerol wine.
Château La Fleur-Pétrus is a winery located in the eastern part of the Pomerol plateau, Bordeaux, that has been in the Moueix family since 1953 and extended in 1994 into a small plot of land that used to be part of Château le Gay. Its neighbors are Château Lafleur in the west and Petrus in the south.
The Château La Fleur-Pétrus vineyard covers an area of 18.7 hectares and is planted with 91% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. The soils are made of gravel and deep clay on an iron-rich subsoil. The bunches are harvested manually and then selected manually and visually.
The Château La Fleur-Pétrus ferments in cement and stainless steel vats. Fermentation, maceration and temperature are all closely monitored. Once the wine has fermented, it is aged for 16 to 18 months in French oak barrels. 50% of the barrels are renewed annually.
Château La Fleur-Pétrus is an elegant wine, a little finer and more delicate than other Pomerol wines, but with great aging potential.
2014 | Château La Fleur-Pétrus 2014 offers earthy notes, black olives and black fruit as well as dried Provencal herbs. At the heart there are preserved plums, cherries and black raspberries with hints of tar and new leather. On the palate it has good body, it is rich, luxurious and seductive. The finish is earthy, flavoursome and persistent. |
