About Château Clinet
A prestigious wine region located on the right bank of the Garonne River in the Bordeaux region of France, Pomerol is known for producing some of the world's most exquisite and sought-after wines. The unique characteristics of this plateau located northeast of Saint-Émilion contribute to the distinctive personality of its wines. But if its the top wines of Pomerol we want to talk about, then those are the ones that comes from the top of this famous plateau, popularly known as the ‘Gunz terrace.’ It is an elevated platform whose terrain is very suitable for the cultivation of vineyards, especially for the production of quality wines. A particular soil composition in which pebbles, clay and iron are mixed. It is here that some of the world's most important and expensive bottles are produced, such as Petrus, Le Pin, Lafleure, Vieux Château Certain and Château Clinet. The latter is an old estate dating back to 1595, whose vineyard, made up of plots located on the famous Gunz terrace, is one of the largest merlot terroirs in the world.
Its namesake wine, Château Clinet, is a coupage of merlot and cabernet franc from a vineyard of approximately 8.64 ha. Vines with an average age of 50 years grow in a stony soil composed of deep layers of clay with iron-rich ironstone. The grapes are organically farmed to preserve the natural balance of the precious terroir and the grapes are harvested by hand at the optimum moment of ripening. In the cellar, after meticulous selection, careful destemming and gentle pressing, fermentation begins with native yeasts at a controlled temperature. The wine is then aged for 16 months in new barrels to achieve the desired intensity, richness and concentration.
As one of the most prestigious wineries in Pomerol, Château Clinet bottles all the necessary requirements for a unique wine: old vines, exceptional terroir and absolute dedication. The essential ingredients for obtaining a top wine.
2023 | Château Clinet 2023 is a red wine that stands out for its elegance and complexity. On the nose, it offers fragrant aromas of dark chocolate, violets, preserved plums, and blueberry compote, with subtle hints of kirsch and rose oil. On the palate, it is slightly full-bodied and reveals layers of black and blue fruits, with a velvety texture and vibrant acidity. The finish is long and aromatic, leaving a lasting impression. |
