About Cavallotto Barolo Bricco Boschis

Cavallotto Barolo Bricco Boschis is a barrel-aged red wine made from the Nebbiolo variety by the Cavallotto winery in DOCG Barolo (Piedmont).

Cavallotto is a family winery located in one of the most important wine regions of northern Italy, in the municipality of Castiglione Falletto, in the Italian province of Cuneo (Piedmont). They have been cultivating vineyards since 1928, and their winemaking goes back generations. Today it is the fourth generation carrying the legacy, and they only vinify grapes grown on the legendary Bricco Boschis hill, one of the most prestigious crus in the area.

Cavallotto Barolo Bricco Boschis comes from vines with an average age of over 40 years, lying on a Helvetian and sandstone soil and about 350 metres above sea level. They cultivate strains of the noble Nebbiolo variety, limiting the yield to 38 hectolitres per hectare, and their work is all certified organic and respectful of the environment. Once the grapes reach optimal ripeness, they are harvested manually.

In the winery, the Cavallotto Barolo Bricco Boschis grapes are destemmed and crushed to be made into wine. The must macerates for about 30-35 days with the skins and fermentation takes place spontaneously with native yeasts at a controlled temperature of 29°C. Then malolactic fermentation takes place in cement tanks. Finally, the wine ages in large oak barrels for 48 to 60 months before being bottled.

Cavallotto Barolo Bricco Boschis is a symbol of a denomination that produces one of the best wines in the world. A red wine that reveals the power, complexity and majesty that only the Nebbiolo variety can express in equal measures.
2015 Cavallotto Barolo Bricco Boschis 2015 is a concentrated red wine with complex notes of red fruits, spicy hints of nutmeg and liquorice on the nose with an undergrowth background. On the palate it is succulent, broad and meaty. With a pleasant entrance, profiled tannins and a warm finish. Good development in the bottle over time.
