Cascina Fontana Langhe Nebbiolo

Cascina Fontana Langhe Nebbiolo is a barrel-aged wine made with the Nebbiolo variety in the DOC Langhe Nebbiolo denomination (Piedmont) by Cascina Fontana.

Mario Fontana, who runs the Cascina Fontana family winery, is the sixth generation to grow and vinify in the impressive Langhe hills in Piedmont. Using a traditional approach, they produce wines with a pure expression of this UNESCO World Heritage land.

Cascina Fontana Langhe Nebbiolo comes from vineyards that have been in the family for more than 100 years. These vines lie on gentle slopes with typical grey and white loam soils. The team use environmentally friendly agriculture, seeking the maximum expression of the terroir, and the harvest is carried out manually at the optimum point of ripeness.

In the winery, the Cascina Fontana Langhe Nebbiolo grapes are macerated with their skins for two weeks. They are then fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks and finally the wine ages in 25-hectolitre Slavic oak barrels. When the wine is ready, it is bottled without clarifying, filtering or adding sulphites.
