Casa Balaguer La Rambla del Peligrés

Red wine Aged in clay Natural and Respectful agriculture. 5 meses en lagares antiguos.
Casa Balaguer La Rambla del Peligrés 2022 is a pale Garnacha that embodies the character of the sandy limestone soils of the estate. Originating from a warm and dry year, with a humid spring that imparted freshness, this wine exhibits a medium body, fine and sandy tannins, and a mature yet balanced expression. On the palate, it is flavourful and serious, with a subtle chalky note that adds character.

About Casa Balaguer La Rambla del Peligrés
When the winemaker from Alicante, Rafa Bernabé Aguilar, handed over Casa Balaguer to Vinessens winery in 2017, all parties involved were adamant that the project should maintain its original trajectory. This meant a commitment to producing wines with minimal intervention from indigenous old vines. Thus, on the 50-hectare estate located in the municipality of Villena, Andrés Carull, Marta Ribera and their family uphold Bernabé's philosophy, albeit with a modern twist by refreshing the wine labels with motifs of nature that reflect the essence of each wine.
In the case of Casa Balaguer La Rambla del Peligrés, it is dedicated to a falcon native to this region of Alicante (the peligrés). This is a single-varietal Garnacha planted in the plot known as “Rambla del Peligrés,” where the old vines are cultivated according to sustainable and biodynamic practices. When the grapes reach optimal maturity, they are hand-harvested in 15 kg boxes and immediately transported to the winery. There, 50% of the grapes are placed directly into small concrete tanks whole cluster, without destemming or crushing, and the remaining 50% are destemmed but not crushed. Fermentation occurs with indigenous yeasts without the addition of sulfur and at ambient temperatures. Afterwards, the wine is aged for 5 months in these same concrete tanks before being bottled directly without clarification, filtration, or the addition of sulfur.
Juicy, sweetly indulgent, and lively, Casa Balaguer La Rambla del Peligrés mirrors the commitment of Rafa Bernabé Aguilar, now carried forward by the Carull family. It is an open invitation to savor the most quintessentially Mediterranean expression of Garnacha.
