About Azienda Agricola Camparo Rosso DOC Langhe

Certain treasures can only be attained over time: expertise, resilience, forgiveness, devotion, and exquisite wines. Azienda Agricola Camparo Rosso DOC Langhe is a testament to this, representing another of life's marvels that unfold as the clock's hands circulate. Specifically, Azienda Agricola Camparo Rosso DOC Langhe is a red wine, a blend of nebbiolo, dolcetto, and barbera, which is allowed to mature for two years in a combination of oak barrels, stainless steel vats, and Bordeaux bottles, enabling it to develop its full character and potential.

As has been mentioned, both oak wood and stainless steel vats play an integral role in the wine's evolution, which begins in the vineyards owned by Azienda Agrícola Camparo in the heart of Piedmont, Northern Italy. Here, within the D.O.C. Langhe, the genesis of it all lies between September and October with the manual harvest and transportation of the grape varieties to the winery, where nebbiolo, dolcetto, and barbera will be pressed separately and transferred into distinct stainless steel vats. This marks the conclusion of the initial phase, a swift process where the primary concern is to vat the musts of Azienda Agricola Camparo Rosso DOC Langhe promptly, ensuring the grapes remain in pristine condition to prevent any unnecessary crushing and oxidation.

With each must of Azienda Agricola Camparo Rosso DOC Langhe appropriately allocated, a new, somewhat lengthier phase commences, involving the initiation of fermentation with indigenous yeasts, which will last between 15 to 30 days depending on the variety. At this juncture, pump-overs are critical, serving to extract the maximum intensity of color. After this period, Azienda Agricola Camparo Rosso DOC Langhe is racked, and each variety embarks on a different maturation path: while dolcetto is transferred to stainless steel vats, both barbera and nebbiolo will continue their aging in French oak barrels (of 25 hL). Following a year of rest, the wines are blended and then left to age for an additional six months in stainless steel tanks. Yet, the process does not end there: after bottling, Azienda Agricola Camparo Rosso DOC Langhe spends a further six months in the cellar before being released for sale.

Throughout this entire process, intervention is kept to a bare minimum, allowing the wine to express its inherent qualities. In fact, the barrels employed are typically second or third use, as the ultimate goal is to prevent the oak from overshadowing the true essence of this red wine, which is cultivated in the vineyard. Azienda Agrícola Campero was among the pioneers to embrace an ecological approach. The decisive transition to this form of agriculture was made by Mauro Drocco, the founder's grandson and the latest generation of the family, who embraced this vision in the early 90s. Since then, the character of this terrain, with its clay-siliceous soils and fossil marls, speaks for itself through Azienda Agricola Camparo Rosso DOC Langhe.
