About Caiarossa
Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese discipline that seeks harmony and balance within our surroundings. This practice is rooted in Chinese cosmogony and its theories regarding the evolution of the universe, in which it is believed that everything is interconnected and that energy, or "chi," flows ubiquitously. According to Feng Shui, the energy in our environment can affect our emotions, thoughts, and actions, thus it is crucial to consider the arrangement of spaces and the objects within them to achieve proper harmony. From an oenological perspective, the winery Caiarossa in Tuscany (Italy), has embraced Feng Shui as a valuable tool to create the right harmony and balance, thereby enhancing the flavor and quality of their wines. So much so, that they constructed their facilities inspired by the principles of this Eastern discipline and since 2016, it has been part of “Tuscany Wine Architecture”, a project that connects 14 Tuscan wineries renowned for their distinctive architectural features.
Whether or not the properties attributed to Feng Shui are tangible, it is undeniable that Caiarossa, the flagship wine of this winery, is pure harmony. A Super Tuscan crafted with 7 different red varieties, including cabernet franc, merlot, syrah, and cabernet sauvignon from an exceptional terroir of gravel and clay soil. A tapestry of vineyards managed according to biodynamic and organic principles since 1998, coexisting with olive groves and Mediterranean scrub. Following a manual harvest, in the winery each variety is vinified separately in concrete and wooden vats. Subsequently, the wine is transferred to barrels of various sizes and ages, with an aging period tailored to each variety, ranging from 12 to 20 months.
The result is Caiarossa, a robust, vibrant, and utterly alluring wine, perfect for connoisseurs of the most exclusive vintages. A biodynamic Super Tuscan that, under the philosophy of Feng Shui, presents us with pure harmony.
