About Ca' del Bosco Cuvée Prestige Edition
As a young man Maurizio Zanella traveled to the Champagne AOC and got to know its sparkling wines. That restless young man thought why not do the same in Italy, right in the two hectares of vineyards that his mother Annamaria Clemente Zanella had bought in Brescia, in the north of Italy, right in the Lombardy region. This is how Ca' del Bosco was born, and with it one of the most prestigious wineries and one of the best sparkling wine producers in Italy. That date, which is now 30 years later, has been marked forever in the special Italian oenological calendar. Today, the winery pays tribute to this chapter with the dry sparkling wine Ca' del Bosco Cuvée Prestige Edition.
During all this time Ca' del Bosco Cuvée Prestige Edition has become a great ambassador of the brand that not only represents good taste, but also one of the pioneers of the new wave of Italian producers. With it, a new way of production was inaugurated, with high-quality sparkling wines, raising the prestige of the Franciacorta Millesimato DOCG. What started with Maurizio's mother has grown to the current 200 hectares, where cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, merlot, chardonnay, pinot blanc and pinot noir are grown. Ca' del Bosco Cuvée Prestige Edition is made from these last three varieties. All the bunches are harvested from old vineyards, more than 15 years old, taking care of their good condition at all times. Only the best quality is possible in this very special sparkling wine! It should be noted that Ca' del Bosco is a company that pays special attention to every last detail, so much so that before vinification, the grapes go through a special washing system with three bathtubs (what they call a berry spa), where microorganisms, dirt and dust are removed. This special treatment will end in a drying tunnel prior to the press (always in the absence of oxygen).
The must of Ca' del Bosco Cuvée Prestige Edition is fermented in stainless steel tanks for seven months. This is the only way to ensure the true character of this wine emerges, marked by sandy soils rich in silt, poor in clay and very permeable (where there are also stones formerly used as building materials). Finally, after blending with the house reserve wine (between 20%–30%), Ca' del Bosco Cuvée Prestige Edition is left to settle for secondary fermentation.
After 25 months in contact with the lees, Ca' del Bosco Cuvée Prestige Edition is disgorged, ready to be tasted and to celebrate the impeccable track record of this house.
