About Bohigas Brut Nature Gran Reserva

Bohigas Brut Nature Gran Reserva is a cava made by Caves Bohigas in Òdena (Barcelona), D.O. Cava.

Caves Bohigas is a family winery located on the Can Macià estate, in the municipality of Òdena. This estate has more than 200 hectares of forests, fields of cereals and vineyards (over 35 hectares). The family also has 54 hectares of vineyards located in the area of Gelida, Penedés, an excellent location for the production of quiet wines and well adapted for red varieties.

The climate in the area is continental-Mediterranean, with highly fluctuating temperatures between day and night and very low rainfall. The soils are basically clay-calcareous. Caves Bohigas cultivates its vineyards under the influence of the Anoia River, respecting the land and seeking the maximum expression from the varieties that have adapted best. Resulting in low yields and high acidity, ideal for making high quality cava base wines.

Bohigas Brut Nature Gran Reserva is a cava made with Xarel·lo, Macabeo, Parellada and Chardonnay grapes from old vineyards - some 50 years old - from the Can Macià estate.

Once the grape is harvested, it is pressed in the winery and the must undergoes an initial fermentation in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature. The wine is aged on lees in the bottle for a minimum of 30 months.

Bohigas Brut Nature Gran Reserva is a mature, refined and dry cava. On the nose, the aromas of white stone fruit, pastries and elegant toasted notes stand out. In the mouth, it has volume, very fine bubbles and a long and dry finish.
