About Binifadet Negre
Binifadet Negre is a red wine produced by Bodegas Binifadet in Sant Lluís, V.T. Illa de Menorca.
In 1979, Carlos Anglés decided to plant his first vineyard in the Island of Menorca with several varieties of vines. The experience of several harvests led him to expand the vineyards with those vines that best adapted to the climatology of the island. After years of dedication to the production of wine for his family, and after building a new winery, in May of 2004, his first wines were released on the market.
Currently, Bodegas Binifadet (name of the farm acquired in 2001) works with 12 hectares planted in the south of the island, where the tidal calcareous soil is covered by a clayey layer. The climate is clearly Mediterranean, with scarce rainfall concentrated in autumn, with exposure to the intense winds that affect the island, especially the Tramontane.
Binifadet Negre is a wine made from Syrah and Merlot selected from the best plots of the Binifadet farm in the south of the island.
The harvest is manual, and once it arrives at the winery, it ferments in stainless steel deposits at a controlled temperature, 23°C. In these deposits, it also goes through the malolactic fermentation. This wine is aged for 3 months in American oak barrels.
Binifadet Negre is a juicy, balanced wine with a lot of character. The ripe black fruit stands out with light vanilla and coconut notes, characteristic of American wood.
