About Barón de Ley Gran Reserva
Barón de Ley Gran Reserva is a red wine from the D.O La Rioja produced by the Barón de Ley. It is made using only Tempranillo grapes.
The grapes used to make this wine come from the municipality of Cenicero. The vineyards are poor in organic matter, which results in a high acidity and concentration in the fruit. The area is also home to an Atlantic climate, where it is not uncommon to see rainfall.
The winemaking process for Barón de Ley Gran Reserva is carried out using conventional methods, that have for years been applied by the winery who have vast experience in the industry.
As any Gran Reserva , Baron de Ley Gran Reserva undergoes a long ageing process. It spends 2 years in French and American oak barrels, followed by 3 more years of ageing in the bottle.
Located in the town of Mendavía, the Barón de Ley winery now one of the most renowned in the D.O La Rioja. Founded in 1990, it has managed to build up a stellar reputation specialising in developing reserves and gran reserves.
