About Arzuaga Gran Reserva

Arzuaga Gran Reserva is a red wine made with the Tinto Fino, Merlot and Albillo varieties by the Arzuaga Navarro winery in the D.O. Ribera de Duero.

Bodegas Arzuaga Navarro was set up in 1993 when the Florentino Arzuaga family bought an estate in the town of Quintanilla de Onésimo (Valladolid) to make their own wines. With the grape being one of the winery’s highest priorities, they combine tradition and experience to create world-renowned limited production wines.

Arzuaga Gran Reserva is a wine of two parts, the first, from old vines aged over 80 years old and, the second, from a small amount of young vines. They are all planted in clay-calcareous soils, and the low fertility and harsh climate in the area give the grape a spectacular concentration. Traditionally cultivated, the harvest is carried out manually at the optimum point of ripeness in 15 kg boxes.

Once in the winery, the Arzuaga Gran Reserva grape goes through a selection process before being destemmed and crushed. It then undergoes pre-fermentation maceration at a low temperature and subsequent fermentation at a controlled temperature of 28°C. Finally, it ages in new French oak barrels for 40 months, and is racked three times during this time.

Arzuaga Reserva unites the structure and complexity of the old strains with the freshness and liveliness of the young strains. Expression and volume in the true Ribera de Duero style.
2015

Arzuaga Gran Reserva 2015 is an exceptionally expressive red wine. The bouquet is opulent, with an abundance of nuances including ripe fruit, cinnamon, tobacco, and spices. On the palate, it is vibrant and velvety, continuing its spicy profile.

2014

Arzuaga Gran Reserva 2014 is an aged red wine boasting intricate aromas of stewed black fruit, roasted nuances, and hints of spices and leather. On the palate, it is harmonious, crisp, and silken. This wine features delicate tannins, vibrant acidity, and a creamy finish.

2011 Arzuaga Gran Reserva 2011 is a mature red wine with great aromatic intensity of red forest fruit compote with roasted and smoky notes. On the palate it is powerful, enveloping and well structured. It gives delicious silky sensations, an integrated aftertaste and a prolonged finish.
2009 Arzuaga Gran Reserva 2009 is a complex, refined and mature red wine. This vintage once again shows us all the personality of long aged wines without concealing the presence of the fruit. Very elegant roasted notes merge with the passage of time with the aromas of candied red fruit. On the palate it is silky, structured and with a very lingering finish.
