In the case of Averna Amaro Licor Amargo Italiano, its essence was born in the 19th century, when the Benedictine monks of the Abbazia di Santo Spirito crafted a unique formula that captured the spirit of Sicily. A liqueur that, with its intense notes and distinctive balance of sweetness and bitterness, became a legacy that transcended the monastery walls.
 
The story of Averna Amaro Licor Amargo Italiano is one of a family and their commitment to authenticity. In 1868, textile merchant Salvatore Averna received the secret recipe from the hands of the monk Frà Girolamo as a gesture of gratitude for his dedication to the local community. Averna decided to share it with the world. From his modest country house in Xiboli to the grand halls of Italy, Averna Amaro Licor Amargo Italiano won hearts and palates, even earning recognition from the Royal House in 1912. Over the centuries, this liquid gem has withstood wars, transformations, and changes of era without losing its Sicilian essence.
 
Today, more than 150 years later, Averna Amaro Licor Amargo Italiano continues to be crafted in Caltanissetta (Sicily), following a meticulous infusion process that preserves its character intact.
