About Altún Rosé

With large wine corporations dominating the global market, fortunately, there are small winemakers who fight daily to keep the more traditional and artisan side of wine alive. Small-scale productions focused on quality and authenticity and, above all, connected to the terroir. This is how the Bodegas Altún family project has been cultivating its own vineyards at 650 metres above sea level in the Rioja Alavesa (Spain) for three generations and making wine at the family winery in Baños del Ebro for two generations. A work of craftsmanship where brothers Iker and Alberto Martínez combine traditional methods with the most innovative techniques to achieve authentic village wines like this Altún Rosé.

Made from 100% Tempranillo grapes from their own vineyards, Altún Rosé is the house rosé wine that comes from six plots lying between the municipalities of Laguardia and San Vicente de la Sonsierra, in La Rioja. The vines lie at an altitude of 550 to 650 metres, affected by the northern wind (which is cool and dry) and are cultivated following the local winemaking tradition. After a manual harvest, the grapes are gently pressed and the resulting must is fermented in French oak barrels at 16ºC for 20 to 30 days. Finally, the wine is aged on its lees for 3 months to gain complexity and elegance.

Made by two small winemakers, Alberto as vine grower and Iker as winemaker, the Altún Rosé is deeply connected to the land it comes from. A limited production village wine from their highest altitude vines.
