About Alma Atlántica Mencía Rosé

Made up of journalists, communicators, editors and wine writers, the Asociación Española de Periodistas y Escritores del Vino (AEPEV) (Spanish Association of Wine Journalists and Writers) is an organisation that aims to promote the knowledge and spread of the wine world and to help consolidate Spain, the third largest wine producing country in the world, as a benchmark of quality in the international wine industry. The association has also drawn up a list of the best Spanish wineries of this decade, chosen by its members. One of these is Martín Códax, the winery located in Cambados (Galicia), which was founded in 1986 by a group of winegrowers who were able to see the potential of the Albariño grape and which today has become a benchmark for Galician wines beyond its borders.

Their Alma Atlántica Mencía Rosé is an unconventional sparkling wine made with the most Atlantic raw material. Made from grapes of the native Mencía variety grown in granitic soil on the coast, once the grapes reach the winery they are selected, destemmed and pressed. The resulting must is only partially fermented, to maintain its sweetness, in isobaric tanks where its bubbles are created naturally, thus reinforcing the sensation of freshness. The result is a very unique sparkling wine. A different way to enjoy the traditional Mencía.
