About Celler Kripta Franc Brut Reserva
Achieving accolades year after year for over four decades is not a matter of chance, but rather a testament to impeccable work, tireless dedication, and an unwavering passion. Kripta is the most consistently awarded cava since it received its first gold medal in Old Bratislava in 1984, a milestone that continues to pave the way towards excellence in the world of cava.
Its creator, Agustí Torelló Mata, born into a family of musicians and tailors, found in chemistry the ideal tool to transform his art into science. The fusion of creativity and technique led him to embark on his journey in the world of cava in 1955 in Sant Sadurni d'Anoia, at the heart of the D.O. Cava, achieving his greatest triumph in 1978 with the creation of Kripta. More than just a cava, it is a masterpiece that has transcended generations.
Today, Celler Kripta, now led by Torelló's children, is present in over 30 countries and is a global benchmark in the sector. Its legacy lives on in every bottle, as exemplified by Celler Kripta Franc Reserva, the ultimate expression of this family tradition and artisanal mastery. Crafted from the native varieties of Penedès: macabeo, xarel·lo, and parellada, this Brut cava begins its fermentation in small stainless steel tanks. It then undergoes a second fermentation in the bottle using the méthode champenoise and ages for more than 48 months, bestowing it with exceptional complexity and elegance. Finally, the liqueur d'expédition is added during disgorgement, a meticulously crafted blend that balances the acidity and smoothness of the cava, enhancing the final product with greater complexity and character.
