Abel Mendoza Guardaviñas is a red wine produced in the D.O.C.a Rioja by Abel Mendoza Monje in San Vicente de la Sonsierra.
Abel Mendoza began his journey in 1988, and he currently has 18 hectares that have been organically cultivated along the banks of the Ebro. The cultivation lands are rough and with a mixed composition, alternating clayey soils, marl and fine sandstones. Climate is moderately continental, marked by the Cantabrian influence.
Abel Mendoza is a wine grower that works his vines with dedication and turns them into personal wines. This is the result of different interpretations of the terroir.
Abel Mendoza Guardaviñas is Abel Mendoza's latest wine. A Tempranillo without sulphur dioxide, from a biodynamic vineyard located in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, with 0.56 hectares planted in 1979.
Manual harvest, destemmed and maceration at a controlled temperature. After fermentation, part of the wine was aged in French oak barrels for 11 months. The other part was aged in stainless steel deposits.
Abel Mendoza Guardaviñas is a fresh wine, with a lot of fruit and refined tannins. An extremely varietal and lingering wine.
