Zuccardi Vida Organica Malbec

The Zuccardi family, great leaders in Argentine winemaking, have always been aware that good wine is starts in the vineyard. When it comes to production, the quality and condition of the raw material is key. However, this would not be possible if it were not for their team of professionals and employees, the guardians of each of the vines. Without them, nothing would be the same, and that is why the Zuccardi family looks after their welfare, health and education. Vida Orgánica, this winery’s new range, is made following this philosophy, using only grapes from the family’s organic vineyards. One of the wines in this range is Zuccardi Vida Orgánica Malbec.

As is well known, Malbec is the leading red variety in Argentina. For this wine, the bunches are grown in Mendoza, in the Cuyo region (in the central west of the country), at the foot of the Andes. Here, specifically in Santa Rosa and Maipú, the vineyards are tended and worked manually, without chemicals or synthetic products, between 900 and 1,200 metres above sea level. We should explain that this is the highest point of the Andes. This undoubtedly influences the vineyards, because the cold, dry mountain air stops the spread of diseases, facilitates the proper ripening of the grapes and enables a good release of anthocyanins (polyphenolic compounds that give the grapes colour). But this is not the end. Another key factor is the stony and sandy soils, which are rich in gravel, and the semi-arid continental climate, with wet winters and very dry summers.

Minimal intervention during production is also essential. When the Zuccardi Vida Orgánica Malbec grapes reach the winery, they are fermented in stainless steel tanks with selected yeasts at a constant temperature of between 15°C and 18°C (59°F and 64°F). After this, Zuccardi Vida Orgánica Malbec undergoes a 10-day maceration in contact with its skins. And that’s about it! Bottled unfiltered and unclarified, Zuccardi Vida Orgánica Malbec is ready to be enjoyed.
