About Marqués de Riscal Reserva

What do Ernest Hemingway, Salvador Dalí, and Frederick Forsyth have in common? The answer is quite simple: a fine glass of Marqués de Riscal Reserva. 
 
Straight from the village of Elciego, in the Rioja Alavesa, comes this red wine that has always ignited passions in the art world. Currently present in over 100 countries, many distinguished individuals have succumbed to its aroma and flavour, becoming forever immortalised in some of their works. However, fortunately, one does not need to be a great writer or a renowned artist to enjoy this red wine crafted from tempranillo, graciano, and mazuelo. The origin of these grapes is diverse, as Marqués de Riscal owns approximately 600 hectares. The remainder comes from various vineyards collaborating with this winery, striving to uphold the quality standards demanded by the winery (vines over 40 years old growing on clay and limestone soils).
 
After the harvest, Marqués de Riscal Reserva ferments at a controlled temperature and is left to macerate for approximately 12 days. After this period, Marqués de Riscal Reserva is racked, and the wine is transferred to American oak barrels, where it will remain for around 24 months.  Finally, the last 12 months that Marqués de Riscal Reserva rests in the bottle before reaching the market will be decisive.

2019

Marqués de Riscal Reserva 2019 is a concentrated red wine, with a very intense cherry colour. Very expressive nose with spice (liquorice, cinnamon, black pepper) and ripe fruit. The palate is fresh, with polished and silky tannins. Very pleasant. Voluminous and structured body. Long and persistent finish.
2018

Marqués de Riscal Reserva 2018 is a red wine that on the nose presents highly expressive aromas of ripe fruit, complemented by nuances reminiscent of licorice, pepper, and cinnamon. The wood is well-integrated, contributing to its delightful complexity. On the palate, it is fresh and silky, with polished and pleasing tannins. This is a well-structured, rounded red wine, with an approachable and smooth drinking experience.
2016

Marqués de Riscal Reserva 2016 is an expressive, structured and elegant wine. On the nose, the notes of its ageing, liquorice, black pepper, and leather, stand out on a background of ripe red fruit. In the mouth, it is silky and easy to drink, with a long and balsamic finish. The classic wine of Rioja.
2015 Marqués de Riscal Reserva 2015 is an aged red wine boasting pronounced aromas of ripe red and black fruits, infused with spicy undertones of cinnamon, licorice, and black pepper, complemented by subtle hints of oak. On the palate, it presents a meaty, intricate, and enveloping texture. The wine offers a vibrant acidity and smooth tannins. The finish is extensive and exceedingly pleasant, with lingering balsamic notes.
2014 Marques de Riscal Reserva 2014 is one of the most famous wines in Rioja. This red wine has a concentrated profile thanks to the aromas of its ageing, but it also has a light colour and a medium-bodied mouth. A wine for lovers of the Rioja Reserva wines.
2010 Round on the palate. After a pleasant, silky and serene attack, it displays a tasty and elegant mid palate in which the intense dark fruit coats the mouth in a pleasant manner. Great balance between the ripe and integrated tannins and the deep and distinct acidity. Long finish reminiscent of noble woods.
