About La Zarcita
La Zarcita is a red wine from the appellation of origin (D.O) Ribera del Guadiana produced by the winery Palacio Quemado. This was a project set up in 1999 by the winery Bodegas Alvear in the town of Alange (Badajoz).
La Zarcita is producted from a blend of syrah, touriga nacional, trincadeira and garnacha tintorera. The vines are planted at an altitude of 520 meters above sea level and the soils are mainly calcareous.
For production, the grapes are harvested and fermented separately, this respects the optimum period for ripening and to preserve the grape's character.
2013 | Fresh, fruity, balanced. Passing is light and enveloping, with sweet tannins. Good persistence with spicy and fruity flavours. Dark cherry red with garnet reflections. Clean and bright. Medium-high Intensity with black fruit and wild aromas. Toasted and spicy notes over a balsamic base. |
|
2010 | Expressive and persistent, with a good balance between fruit and wood and nice finish, improving glass by glass. A dark maroom rim with some violet/blue reflections. Good balance between spicy notes and toasted notes from the new French oak barrel, with hints of forest fruits, redcurrents, blackberries... |
