About Finca Piedra Infinita
More and more wine labels are trying to tell us something about the wine, and Finca Piedras Infinitas is one that speaks for itself. Produced by Zuccardi, considered the best winery in the New World, this wine comes from an estate where no one had been able to cultivate before because of a rock that was very difficult to work. It was thanks to the perseverance of Sebastian Zuccardi, third generation of this prestigious winemaking family, who saw the highest area of the wonderful Altamira, in the Uco Valley of Mendoza (Argentina) and identified an enormous diversity of soils that he could interpret through wine. A daring adventure that required more than a thousand truckloads of stone to make room for the vines.
This is how Finca Piedra Infinita was born, a mountain wine that comes from Malbec vines at 1100 metres above sea level and which, thanks to the alluvial variety of the Tunuyán River, the soils are characterised by being very diverse, stony and calcareous. The vines are cultivated using traditional agriculture and the harvest is carried out manually with a selection process. Once in the winery, vinification is carried out in concrete tanks with native yeasts. Afterwards, some of the wine is aged in used 500-litre French oak barrels and the rest of the wine is aged in concrete tanks.
In view of this, only a name like Zuccardi, which has built a prestigious name in the world of wine, could venture into a task of such great magnitude. Tough work that has really paid off, because Finca Piedra Infinita is a marvel that really highlights the concept of a unique and unrivalled terroir.
2018 | Finca Piedra Infinita 2018 is a concentrated red wine with aromas of black and red fruit, accompanied by balsamic notes and hints of oak. On the palate it is fresh, sweet and well structured. A medium-bodied wine with marked acidity, silky tannins and a long, lingering finish. |
