About El Reventón Nº 17
Accidents are unavoidable, but in the face of challenges, those who overcome them become stronger. At the outset of the 2022 winemaking season, the winery El Reventón encountered an unexpected setback: the loss of 5,000 litres of must due to an unfortunate accident at the winery. Rather than giving up, the team led by Alejandro Vigil, known as "the Messi of wine" chose to turn adversity into opportunity, bringing El Reventón Nº 17 to life, a wine that symbolises resilience, teamwork, and the indomitable spirit of the region.
Crafted with a minimal intervention approach, El Reventón Nº 17 is the result of collaboration with local artisanal vintners, combining grapes from their own vineyard La Reina. Garnachas sourced from slate and quartz soils situated at an altitude of 950 metres undergo minimal intervention winemaking. Fermentation takes place in large concrete vats with whole clusters, indigenous yeasts, and a gentle maceration to preserve the freshness and authenticity of the fruit. Subsequently, the wine matures in stainless steel and concrete for 11 months before bottling.
Highlighting the purity of the fruit and the identity of the terroir, El Reventón Nº 17 is not only a tribute to the essence of Gredos and its people but also a demonstration that, in every challenge, there is an opportunity to reinvent oneself and move forward with greater strength. And if anyone knows about that, it is Vigil who, having become one of the most influential figures in the world of wine, has shown that passion and determination can transform even the most difficult moments into great achievements.
