About De Fermo Launegild Chardonnay Colline Pescaresi
Rather than wine, many young people tend to prefer other beverages such as craft beers, cocktails, or spirits, which might give the impression that wine is not of much interest to them. However, there is a growing interest among some young people in wine, especially natural, biodynamic, and artisanal varieties. A notable example is the case of Stefano Papetti, who was drawn to the world of wine from a very young age. At just 12 years old, he began reading wine reviews in his mother's cooking magazines. By 18, he was purchasing all the bottles he could. However, it was much later, upon discovering the estate of his wife’s family , Nicoletta De Fermo, in the highest part of Loreto Aprutino, in the province of Pescara, in Abruzzo (Italy), that he decided to take the step towards his dream of making his own wines. Since then, the couple has been working on 17 hectares of vineyard biodynamically, aiming to create genuine wines that reflect their character and authenticity.
Their wine, De Fermo Launegild Chardonnay Colline Pescaresi comes from biodynamically managed vineyards planted on skeleton-rich soils at 320 meters above sea level. Chardonnay vines grow alongside olive trees, cereals, and legumes, which the couple manages holistically. The harvest is done manually and immediately transferred to the winery to ensure the grapes reach their maximum potential. After gentle pressing, fermentation begins in oak barrels with native yeasts, and then the wine continues in these same containers for 12 months in contact with the fine lees. Finally, it is bottled without filtering.
Labelled under the IGP Colline Pescaresi, De Fermo Launegild Chardonnay Colline Pescaresi is the result of hard work in the field and traditional winemaking, without interventions. A white wine that gives voice to a territory with much to tell, both to wine lovers and the new generations.
