About De Fermo Don Carlino Pecorino
Many couples meet at university, and such was the case for Stefano Papetti and Eloisa De Fermo. Although both were studying law in Bologna, they shared a common passion: wine. Weekends became the perfect opportunity to escape together to wineries and local fairs. This passion grew until one day Eloisa suggested Stefano visit her family farm in the town of Loreto Aprutino, in Abruzzo, nestled between the Adriatic coast and the glacial Majella mountain range. That trip transformed their lives, leading them to exchange their legal careers for hands-on work in their own winemaking venture. With great skill and daring, and knowing that the best they can do is to intervene as little as possible in the vineyard and winery, they present us with wines that speak for themselves of their place of origin.
Moreover, if anyone kindled Stefano's love for wine, it was his uncle Carlos, affectionately known as Carlino. A lawyer and politician by profession, Carlino had an unwavering passion for viticulture and French wine, a fervour he passed on to his nephew. In tribute to this legacy, Stefano and Eloisa produce the De Fermo Don Carlino Pecorino, a single-varietal white wine made from pecorino grapes grown according to biodynamic farming principles and harvested manually at their peak ripeness. In the winery, the grapes are meticulously selected and gently pressed. The must ferments with indigenous yeasts and subsequently, the wine ages for 9 months in oak barrels. Finally, it is bottled without fining or filtration.
Energetic, invigorating, and passionate, De Fermo Don Carlino Pecorino expresses not only the richness of the land of Loreto Aprutino but also Stefano and Eloisa's philosophy: to intervene as little as possible so that the wine speaks for itself, authentically reflecting its environment and origin. A wine that captures the natural essence of the grape and the legacy of Uncle Carlino in every bottle.
2022 | De Fermo Don Carlino Pecorino 2022 exhibits a vibrant yellow hue. On the nose, it features prominent aromas of ripe peach and banana, complemented by herbal notes of sage and mint. On the palate, it is refreshing and provides a rich and flavourful texture, with a creamy profile that renders it exceptionally well-balanced. This wine is an ideal choice for those seeking an aromatic white with character. |
