About Champagne Barons de Rothschild Brut Nature
The legacy of the Rothschild family commenced in 1744 with the figure of Mayer Amschel Rothschild, a German banker heralded as the “The founding father of international finance,” who strategically positioned his five sons in Europe’s five leading financial capitals: Amschel in Frankfurt, Solomon in Vienna, Nathan in London, Calmann in Naples, and Jakob in Paris. Indeed, their coat of arms features five arrows, symbolizing the dynasty's five branches. Over the centuries, the scions of this vast financial empire have engaged in a myriad of business ventures, and, inevitably, they have also ventured into and made their mark on the viticultural world. Thus, the Rothschild name has come to be associated with some of the most prestigious vineyards in France, the USA, South Africa, and Spain, establishing itself as a benchmark in the production of fine wine.
Among the wineries bearing the Rothschild name, Barons de Rothschild is an initiative that emerged in 2007 from the union of three family branches: Château Lafite Rothschild, Château Mouton Rothschild, and Château Clarke Edmond Rothschild. This maison yields its finest results due to the extensive viticultural expertise the family has amassed over the years, coupled with the exceptional terroirs of the Côtes de Blancs and the Montaigne de Reims. In the case of Champagne Barons de Rothschild Brut Nature, this sparkling wine is crafted from chardonnay grapes predominantly sourced from Côte des Blancs Grands Crus and Premiers Crus, and pinot noir from Verzenay, Ay, Mareuil-sur-Ay, Ambonnay. The terroir, primarily calcareous, is of the utmost quality, with grapes hand-harvested in small crates to prevent the skins from breaking and oxidizing. In the winery, the base wines are first produced with alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures, followed by blending with a minimum of 40% reserve wines. Employing the traditional Champagne method, the second fermentation occurs in the bottle and the wine is aged for 3 to 4 years. Finally, disgorgement is carried out with a dosage of 3 grams per liter and the wine is left to mature for an additional 9 to 12 months before release.
With a sophisticated, elegant, and mineral profile, Champagne Barons de Rothschild Brut Nature captivates from the outset. A champagne with structure and balance that exemplifies the full potential of the finest chardonnays and pinot noirs from Champagne.
