About Champagne Barons de Rothschild Blanc de Blancs
The surname Rothschild is synonymous with viticultural excellence. This family, with a history spanning over 250 years, has adeptly adapted to the evolving demands of modern times, and in 2007, established themselves in Reims to build one of the most esteemed Champagne houses. Barons de Rothschild is the result of the amalgamation of three family branches: Château Lafite Rothschild, Château Mouton Rothschild, and Château Clarke Edmond Rothschild. The fusion of such a prestigious name with partnerships with the finest Champagne families, boasting a long-standing tradition of crafting quality, yields sparkling wines that are among the most renowned references of the Champagne region.
Yet, what truly sets this House apart is its commitment to creating limited productions, meticulously nurtured and selected, where the chardonnay grape shines in its freshest and most elegant form. Champagne Barons de Rothschild Blanc de Blancs is a single-varietal crafted from the finest chardonnay grapes sourced from the vineyards of Côte des Blancs in Avize, Cramant, Mesnil-sur-Oger, and Oger. These are old vines grown in calcareous soils, cultivated traditionally and with the utmost respect for the environment. In the winery, the grapes are carefully selected, destemmed, and pressed, and the resulting must is fermented in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Once the base wine is obtained, it is blended with at least 40% reserve wines and aged on the lees for a minimum of four years. Finally, it is disgorged, a low dosage of 6 grams of sugar per liter is added, and it rests for a minimum of 6 to 9 months in the bottle before being released to the market.
This is how Champagne Barons de Rothschild Blanc de Blancs is born, a blanc de blancs derived from the blend of the finest chardonnay grapes, which, thanks to its extended four-year lees aging, reveals itself as elegant, complex, and highly mineral. Exceptional qualities that render it unique.
