About Bela Aurea Minerva

In the Ribera del Duero, where tradition meets innovation, Bela Áurea Minerva is born, a red wine paying tribute to the founders of CVNE. The Bela winery, a monument to the family's history, was established in 2017 in Villalba de Duero (Spain) to bring forth a new CVNE winery project outside Rioja. The name "Bela" honours Sofía, the great-grandmother of the current custodians of the winery, who was affectionately known by this name among her closest circle, evoking the essence of the family and the enduring legacy that has lasted since 1879.
 
Indeed, the label of Bela Áurea Minerva is a facsimile of a CVNE label from 1910. The stars represent the three children of the founder of CVNE, Eusebio Real de Asúa, who was married to Sofía Arano, "Bela." Áurea Minerva was the third daughter of the couple.
 
Bela Áurea Minerva is a red wine crafted from selected tempranillo grapes, sourced from vineyards over 50 years old, from the Las Casqueras plot (Peñaranda, Burgos), situated at an altitude of approximately 985 metres, where the exceptional climate allows perfect ripening, achieving a balance between alcohol and acidity. After a cold maceration preceding the traditional fermentation in used 390-litre barrels and a 1,500-litre stainless steel tank, followed by a 12-month ageing in 390-litre French oak barrels that have contained only one wine, Bela Áurea Minerva attains a complexity and structure worthy of its history. The wine rests in the bottle for several months before being released to the market.
 
Bela Áurea Minerva is a delicate gem; a tribute to the tradition and dedication that make CVNE a benchmark of quality, not only in Rioja but also in the Ribera del Duero.
