About Tatsis Roditis-Alepou
Greece is known for its glorious summer weather, scorching sun and clear blue skies for most of the year. A country full of life, with an average of 250 days of sunshine a year and temperatures that can reach 40 degrees Celsius. However, there are slight differences in temperatures between the north and south of the country and, while the islands and coasts have a Mediterranean climate with mild, rainy winters and warm, sunny summers, the northern cities that lie inland have a slightly continental climate with rather cold winters, even with snow, and very hot summers. Here, specifically in Goumenissa (Macedonia), is where brothers Periklis and Stergios Tatsis produce natural, fresh and energetic wines that, when you taste them, you will be surprised they come from sunny Greece.
Specialising mainly in white wines made using native varieties, these brothers manage their small certified organic family estate using lots of biodynamic principles as well. This Tatsis Roditis-Alepou is a single-variety Roditis-Alepou from vineyards lying at an altitude of 800 metres in a mountainous ski area where the nights are cool and the days are sunny. They use organic and biodynamic practices in both the vineyard and the winery. Fermentation is spontaneous with native yeasts and the wine is bottled with zero filtration and minimal added sulphur.
The cool nights bring freshness and minerality and the sunny days generously nourish the wine. Tatsis Roditis-Alepou is an enchanted wine with a concentration and intensity that showcases this inland wine region within the IGP Macedonian.
2019 |
Tatsis Roditis-Alepou 2019 is an aromatic white wine exuding fragrant scents of white and yellow fruits, complemented by delicate floral undertones. On the palate, it is dry, crisp, and imbued with a mineral quality. This is a full-bodied, alluring fortified wine that retains its captivating appeal from the first sip to the last. |
