About Soto Manrique La Mira

"It is a luxury to find a village where practically all the vineyards are very old and bush-trained, and where different soil types converge at altitudes ranging from 700 to 1,100 metres." This is how Jesús María Soto ('Chuchi'), co-founder of Bodegas Leda and sales representative for Belondrade y Lurton, describes it. After his time in the Duero Valley, he fell in love with the Sierra de Gredos and decided to forge his own path with a new venture, Soto Manrique, highlighting the Garnacha cultivated in granite soils that give rise to wines with unmistakable character.

One of his creations, La Mira, is a red wine made entirely from Garnacha grapes from old vines located between 950 and 1,000 metres in altitude. These vines, planted in degraded slate soils with quartz presence, are cultivated organically and impart a unique character to the wine. The harvest is carried out manually, ensuring the selection of the finest grapes. The spontaneous fermentation in concrete tanks, with 30% whole clusters, and aging for 12 months in oak barrels and 20-hectolitre foudres, bestow the wine with complexity and elegance.
