About La Orquesta Soto y Manrique

La Orquesta Soto y Manrique is a white wine produced by the winery Soto y Manrique, in Villaverde de Medina, V.T. Castilla y León.

After working in the wine industry since 1994, in 2012 Jesús Mª Soto decided to start this family project. Soto y Manrique is a small winery that carries the name of both him and his wife. They work with their own vineyards, all of which where planted in 1990.

Since the very beginning, Jesús Mª's objective was to produce wines that showed the character of the soils where they are born from. Limestone, granite and sandy soils that can give the maximum necessary freshness and elegance, and utmost respect for the variety.

The results are simple, direct, very fresh, varietal wines, with an excellent price for quality.

La Orquesta Soto y Manrique is a wine made from Verdejo and Chardonnay, from vines planted on limestone and sandy soils, surrounded by pine forests at 850 metres of altitude. Half of it ferments and ages in used oak barrels, and the other half ferments in stainless steel deposits and ages in 750-litre clay amphorae. Both ageing processes last 10 months.

La Orquesta Soto y Manrique 2018 is an aromatic white wine suffused with hints of apricots, aniseed, wild herbs, and nuances of nuts and honey. On the palate, it is rich, velvety, and sophisticated. This wine boasts a commendable acidity, delightful and impeccably structured.

 
2016 La Orquesta Soto y Manrique 2016 is an elegant wine, with volume and body. This vintage reveals a greater complexity on the nose, It is fruity and floral with smoky notes. On the palate it is structured, silky and with a fresh and lingering finish. A vintage that will go a long way.
