About La Biancara Rosso Masieri

How does a pizza maker become a renowned viticulturist? The answer lies in three essential ingredients: passion, hard work, and a genuine connection with the land. Angiolino Maule and his wife Rosamaría spent over 12 years making pizzas, but in 1988 they decided to radically change their lives to pursue a dream that had been fermenting for some time: winemaking. In the hills of Sorio di Gambellara, in Veneto (Italy), they purchased a 6-hectare plot and began writing a story full of authenticity and commitment. At a time when few spoke of the connection between vineyard and glass, Angiolino was a visionary. He embraced methods revolutionary for his time: cultivating without chemicals or additives, allowing nature to speak for itself.

Today, under the brand La Biancara, that dream continues to flourish, led by Angiolino and his family. His sons, Alessandro, Giacomo, Tommaso, and Francesco, have joined the venture, overseeing every detail from vineyard to cellar and commerce. Their dedication is reflected in wines that pay homage to the land and tradition, such as La Biancara Rosso Masieri. A wine crafted from young merlot and tai rosso (garnacha) grapes that grow at an altitude of between 90 and 260 metres on the unique volcanic soils of Gambellara. With no chemicals or synthetics in the vineyard, manual harvesting ensures the exceptional quality of the grapes. After the harvest, the process continues with spontaneous fermentation in wooden vats and a 13-day maceration. Finally, the wine ages for 8 months in steel, preserving its freshness, vibrant character, and pure personality.

Although nowadays wines connected to the land are more appreciated, the journey of Angiolino Maule reminds us that dreams are built with courage, relentless work, and respect for one's roots. La Biancara Rosso Masieri is a testament to this.

La Biancara Rosso Masieri Veneto 2022 is a ruby red wine with purple highlights.
