Tasting notes García Duque Verdejo 2022
White wine Aged in wood. 6 months in French oak barrels and 6 meses en depósitos de acero inoxidable sobre lías.
García Duque Verdejo 2022 is a white wine with an intense and enveloping nose, where the freshness of fennel and mint intertwines with notes of ripe fruit and a sweet whisper of syrup. On the palate, it is expansive, with a silky and vibrant texture that balances acidity and unctuousness. The toasted notes from the aging process blend with echoes of scrubland and a delicate final bitterness, subtle as the farewell of a summer afternoon. A white with character, leaving its mark and inviting another sip.

About García Duque Verdejo
In the wine region of Rueda (Castilla y León, Spain), where the cool nights counterbalance the scorching days, Pilar García Duque has masterfully achieved a perfect equilibrium in her wines. Her personal endeavour, born from a desire to authentically and freely interpret the landscape, has resulted in a collection that stands out for its elegance and coherence, guided by the intuition of an oenologist who has left an indelible mark on this Denomination of Origin.
Pilar, acclaimed as the Best Oenologist of Rueda in 2024 by the esteemed international critic and Master of Wine, Tim Atkin, has been making her mark in the world of wine for over two decades. From her early experiences at Bodegas Álvarez y Díez to her current work at García Duque, her personal project, her approach has always been clear: wines that honour the land, the varietals, and the passage of time.
García Duque Verdejo is a white wine originating from vineyards situated at an altitude of 750 metres, on loamy-sandy soils that allow for a slow and precise maturation. Following a harvest at its optimal point, the wine ferments in French oak barrels and rests for at least six months in ageing, followed by refinement on lees in stainless steel. The result is an intense white wine, with notes of scrubland, ripe fruit, and aniseed undertones, with the characteristic bitter finish of the variety perfectly tamed by the ageing process.
García Duque Verdejo is a white wine that invites leisurely discovery, ideal for pairing with Mediterranean cuisine, oily fish, or semi-cured cheeses. Its complexity and freshness render it a versatile wine, crafted for everyday enjoyment yet possessing the soul of a classic within the legacy of García Duque.
