El Reventón La Reina Cru Artesano

Tasting notes El Reventón La Reina Cru Artesano 2023
Red wine Aged in wood Respectful agriculture. 11 meses en barricas de roble.
El Reventón La Reina Cru Artesano 2023 exhibits remarkable complexity and elegance. Fresh red fruit notes stand out, while its texture is exceedingly fine, inducing a slight salivation. The mineral presence is complemented by herbal notes, such as thyme, imparting a distinctive character. This wine is more herbal and spiced, less focused on fruit, with a stony and mineral personality that denotes a certain austerity. Its fluid profile makes it approachable for enjoyment.

About El Reventón La Reina Cru Artesano
In the eastern part of the province of Ávila (Spain), the Valle del Alberche unfolds as a natural paradise of stunning landscapes and unique terroirs. Over 15 years ago, this land captivated Alejandro Vigil, known as the "Messi of wine," who, despite achieving historic milestones in his native Argentina—such as being the first South American winemaker to receive 100 Parker points—felt the urge to explore new horizons. His fascination with the Sierra de Gredos was so profound that it led him to initiate a project under the name El Reventón alongside Adrianna Catena and Gearóid Lane, with a clear purpose: to bottle the richness and authenticity of this region.
One of the wines that best embodies this vision is El Reventón La Reina Cru Artesano, born from an exceptional sub-plot at 860 metres altitude, where the slate soils—a rarity in a predominantly granitic terrain—impart a unique character to the Garnacha. The vineyards, planted in 1978, have developed deep roots, exhibiting extraordinary vitality and, cultivated under organic practices without artificial pesticides or herbicides, reflect a deep respect for nature and the terroir.
In the winery, vinification adheres to the same principle of minimal intervention: 70% of the grapes are destemmed and 30% are whole clusters, fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel. During fermentation, very gentle techniques are applied to preserve the purest expression of the fruit and the vineyard's character. Finally, the wine matures for 11 months in three used 500L French oak barrels, allowing for a subtle aging process that enhances its authenticity.
El Reventón La Reina Cru Artesano is the story of a landscape, a dream, and a passion. A wine that captures the essence of Gredos and transforms it into a bottled landscape. A spectacle in every sense.
