Domus Pensi is a red wine from the Terra Alta region, produced by Altavins Viticultors. This wine is a blend of Sauvignon (45%), Garnacha (30%), Syrah (15%) and Merlot (15%) grapes.
The grapes used to make this wine are provided by various farms operated by the winery. The vines themselves are over 30 years old, and the soil is ideal for growing grapes since it is calcareous and silty, with low permeability and poor in organic matter. This results in the great taste and intense aroma of the fruit. The harvest is carried out manually and the grapes are transported in small boxes of no more than 20kgs to ensure that they do not break of lose their qualities.
On arrival at the winery, the grapes that make Domus Pensi pass through the phases of fermentation and maceration, always below the temperature 29º. These processes last 26 days in total, and occur in stainless Steel tanks.
Domus Pensi is a limited product, with only 5,000 bottles made. It is also recomended that you decant this wine before you enjoy it.
Altavins Viticultors is a relatively new company, having been found in 2001 by Joan Bautista Arrufí and Jordi Casadó. The winery has produced 150,000; however the Altavins Viticultors winery has made it clear, the important thing is not quantity, but quality.
