About Delamain Millésimé

Located in Jarnac, on the banks of the Charente River in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France, Maison Delamain has been perpetuating its passion for cognac since 1759, the year James Delamain arrived from Ireland to settle in the town. Established in 1824 by Henri Delamain, James Delamain's grandson, this maison steeped in history invites us on a temporal journey through its exceptional cognacs XO (Extra Old). Within its stone cellars, dating back to the 18th century, one can still find barrels that have been aging for over a century.

Delamain reserves the finest cellar of the maison to house the aging of its cognacs Millésimé (vintage). Access to this hallowed space is safeguarded by a dual-lock system, with keys held by only two individuals who must both be present for entry: an inspector from the BNIC (Bureau National Interprofessionnel du Cognac) and the Maître de Chai (Cellar Master).

Each year, from this special cellar, small batches of cognacs aged over thirty years are selected, a process certified by the Bureau du Cognac's inspector. From this selection, very limited editions of these extraordinary cognacs Millésimé are produced.

These cognacs are crafted from grapes grown in the finest cru of Cognac, La Grande Champagne, and are aged in ancient 350-liter French oak barrels ("roux"), allowing for longer maturation periods than conventional practices.

Twenty years ago, the Bollinger family joined forces with Delamain, reinforcing the commitment to preserve the excellence and continue the legacy of some of the world's most exquisite cognacs.
