About 9set2

9set2 is a red wine from the D.O. Empordà produced by the JOC winery. This wine is a blend of four different grape varieties; garnacha (60%), merlot (15%), Cabernet Franc (15%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%).

 

The grapes used for 9set2, previously known as JOC Negre Empordà, come from the Garriguella zone, a Catalan town close to Figueres.
 

The soils are predominantly clay, slate and granite. Since this type of terrain has a good water retention, is guarantees the maturation of the clusters in case of short rainfall.
 

Following the vinification and winemaking process, only half of the 9set2 is aged, in twice used barrels.
 

JOC is a personal project by Jordi Oliver Conti, a renowned oenologist in the D.O. Empordà, who has helped give it a prestige that it did not previously have.
