About Werlitsch Glück

For Ewald and Brigitte Tscheppe, a good harvest and vintage is a real blessing and a source of happiness. Perhaps this is why they called their wine Werlitsch Glück (which translated means luck and happiness), made only when the grapes reach excellence and good quality.

This is not a matter of whim or fancy. The main objective is to ensure that the grapes, which will be in contact with the skins for up to seven weeks, reach the best sanitary condition to guarantee the best orange wine. The bar is quite high as Ewald, who started biodynamics in 2004, drinks from great sources such as Marcel Deiis, Gravner and Radikon himself (considered one of the masters of wines macerated with skins). 

As for the rest of the philosophy of Weingut Werlitsch, a winery located in Südsteiermark D.A.C. (the southern region of Austria, near the border with Slovenia), it continues with minimum intervention both in the 9 hectares they cultivate biodynamically (of Chardonnay and Sauvignon blanc) and in the winery, where spontaneous fermentations appear as of native yeasts and long aging for two years in wooden barrels. The vineyards in this area are the southernmost in the area, between 380 and 570 meters above sea level, facing south. Here the grapes ripen perfectly, thanks to the contrasts between day and night, due to the warm air currents that unite with the cold air masses of the Koralpe (the Alps mountain range).

The result is Werlitsch Glück: a sophisticated, elegant wine that, through hard work and effort, has made its way to the best tables and wineries in the world.

2018

Werlitsch Glück 2018 is a well-defined orange wine. On the nose, it is powerful, with hints of lychee, honey, hazelnut, and stewed apricot. On the palate, it is tannic and light, with a medium body. It has a pleasantly crisp acidity. Extremely enjoyable.
2017

Werlitsch Glück 2017 is a well-defined orange wine. On the nose, it is profoundly aromatic, exuding scents of stone fruit and herbal notes. The palate is refined and mineral-rich, with a substantial and dry mouthfeel. It is vibrant, featuring mature tannins. The balance is commendable. The acidity is delightfully crisp. Flavours of stone fruits, nuts, and honey prevail.
