About Viña Arana Gran Reserva
This new vintage, Viña Arana, is a red wine. Its previous 2005 vintage gained 18.5 points out of 20 from Decanter and it was placed among the top 3 best Riojas of the year of Masters of Wine Pedro Ballesteros i Anette Scarfe.
This wine is produced by Bodega La Rioja Alta in D.O. La Rioja. It is a coupage of Tempranillo (95%), from vineyards planted in Rodezno and Labastida, and Mazuelo (5%) planted in Rodezno.
As for the production, it undergoes an alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature for 11 days, while malolactic develops for 44 days.
Finally, Viña Arana ages for 3 years in American Oak Barrels and every 6 months it is transferred, by a traditional method, from barrel to barrel.

2004 | It is powerful and silky in the palate with a very tasty but soft mid palate. High presence of fruit which makes it very pleasant. The good notes of toasted do not undermine the notes of fruit. Well-integrated and ripe tannins. Well-bodied wine with a long and very persistent finish and a balsamic and spicy aftertaste.
A classic wine from Rioja with a great elegance. A rounded wine.
Intense cherry colour with thin violet borders. Clean and bright. Slow tears. Intense ripe red fruit on an elegant background of vanilla and coconut provided by the good wood. |

2001 | Mouth is medium body, very round, with sweet tannins that blend with a slight acidity typical of this brand. Long aftertaste, with aromas and flavors of citrus and balsamic that will be an excellent bouquet with time in bottle. Pillory red, medium coat, clean and bright, with orange hues on the rim of the cup. Presents a remarkable intensity in the nose of spicy red fruits and ripe citrus fruit, integrated into a fund and minty cinnamon, vanilla, caramel and caramels. |
