From the earliest days, specifically during the colonial era, Valdespino wineries were trading their sherries and brandies in Cuba. And they were never short of customers! One such client was the owner of a small rum distillery to whom they supplied not only their spirits but also their Jerez casks. In 1940, a selection of these casks containing very old rum arrived in Spain directly from the warehouse of this modest proprietor and was reserved exclusively for the family consumption of the Valdespino clan. Today, Valdespino shares this gem under the name of Valdespino Rare Spirits Ron Viejo.
