Selvadolce Rosso Se 2021 exhibits an alluring ruby-red hue. On the nose, fresh aromas of forest fruits such as raspberries and blackberries are discernible, accompanied by hints of Mediterranean scrub and a touch of earthiness. Darker nuances suggestive of roots and a subtle sea breeze are also noticeable. On the palate, it is a full-bodied and vibrant wine, with an elegant structure and mature tannins. Its finish is persistent, leaving a saline sensation that invites further enjoyment.

About Selvadolce Rosso Se

It is often said that extremes are not beneficial, yet without them, great achievements would not exist. The wines of Aris Blancardi exemplify this: they leave no one indifferent. You either fall completely in love with them or find they are simply not to your taste.

From the very moment Aris, a horse veterinarian, inherited the family estate Selvadolce, located on the Ligurian coast of Italy, he decided to risk everything and establish himself as a passionate advocate of biodynamics. His work is not merely a method of cultivation; it is a philosophy that honours natural cycles and seeks to capture the purest essence of the earth in every bottle. His wines are more than just a beverage: they are a declaration of principles.

This is exemplified in Selvadolce Rosso Se. A wine crafted exclusively from rossese grapes grown on the heights of Monte Caggio, within the historic designation IGP Terrazze Imperiese. At an altitude of 600 metres, the vines thrive in challenging terrains, characterised by steep slopes and soils composed of clay and sandstone. Some of the vines, planted as far back as 1940, are cultivated with limited yields and under 100% biodynamic practices.

The vinification process adheres to the same respect for nature: the harvest is done manually, selecting only perfectly ripe fruit. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in oak vats with native yeasts, while maceration with the skins lasts about three weeks. Afterwards, the wine undergoes 21 months of ageing on fine lees in used barrels, without any clarification or filtration, preserving its authenticity in every detail.

The result is a unique wine, embodying the strength of its place of origin and the passion of its creators. Selvadolce Rosso Se not only invites you to taste it but also to connect with the Mediterranean soul and the courage to stand by what you truly believe in.
